This ELISA
test is a qualitative serological assay for the detection of Nemesia ring
necrosis virus (NeRNV) in ornamental species. NeRNV is a member of the
Tymovirus genus known for their non-enveloped, icosahedral, and isometric
virus particles. Nemesia ring necrosis virus is known to infect multiple
genera within Scrophulariaceae and Verbenaceae, including Alonsoa, Diascia,
Nemesia and Verbena.
This test will detect all known isolates of NeRNV, and no cross-reactivity
was observed with an extensive panel of common viruses of ornamental plants.
Moreover, no host reaction was observed when tested against healthy plant
samples representing 485 species/varieties from 91 genera. This test does
cross-react with Scrophularia mottle virus (ScrMV).
